Replaced

I began my job with iiiDESiGN expecting to stay for eight or nine months, then have a baby and not work any more, or maybe work part-time. So when I started my job with iii I just assumed that it wouldn't be worth the time and effort to really invest any of myself in the company because I wasn't going to stay long anyway. I didn't want to make great friends, I didn't want the community to associate my name with iii (again because I would just be leaving) and I didn't want to be an integral part of the company. Which, I think is the opposite for most people- they want to start a good foundation for a career, and I wanted none of that because I didn't want a career.
It is nearly two years later, I am baby-less, and have a career as the head graphic designer at iiiDESiGN. (Don't be too impressed, the company consists of the creative director, the art director, the head designer, the project manager, and an intern.) Clearly, none of my plans worked out very well, but I think that this job has been the best thing that could have happened in my life.
I have three weeks left, and spent half of last week training my replacement. Which is weird. I am being replaced. And, I'm really really sad about it.

I still think its cool that you have had a great experience there! Are you planning to get a job in Georgia?

Stephanie,

Hey! I am so happy that you have a blog. We can for sure stay in connect and see what's going on in each other's lives as we move away. It's always nice seating with you in Relief Society. I will miss you when we move.

Don't be sad... you have lots of fun things to look forward to. You have a new apartment to decorate and organize (maybe that only sounds fun to me...), you get to look for a house and eventually move in, you get a PUPPY to play with, maybe kids will come soon. You never know! There are lots of fun things, and if Deric and I can help it, we will move somewhere over there too and we can visit!
