Pioneer Day

Our ward celebrated Pioneer Day (the day that the mormon pioneers reached the Utah valley) by having a good ole southern bbq at Cooper's Furnace. (that is that huge rock furnace behind Brian. It was used to make all the guns in the south for the Civil war, i think.)

There was much bbq chicken, fried catfish, hushpuppies, corn on the cob and watermelon. But before we could enjoy the yumminess we decided to take a hike...
Yep. One of those "it will be real quick; it's just up here; only a third of a mile to go" kind of hikes.

There were signs most of the way, so we knew we were never lost. However I wouldn't say the signs were very accurate. Let's just say the visitor center wasn't a third of a mile away.

Bradley walked nearly the whole way! Brian started carrying him when the trail turned steep.

There was no visitor's center, but we did get to see a great view of the dam. Yes Brian successfully taught our son to say dam, however it comes out as more of a grunt rather than an expletive.
