I Saw the Sign!

So I don't post links to all the awesome things I do at work because that is a liiiiittle self centered. But I could not resist this one.

iii has done the logo, identity, and event designs for the San Luis Children's Museum and now we have done the signage! This was absolutely one of those projects that gets shoved my way that I do without complaint or question. I had no idea how the files on my computer would get to a sign maker or what materials they would use. But it came out so cute! (Not to mention the design is perfect for a kid's museum.)

This is a small version of one of the outdoor signs. It is a clear resin with grey bolts going through it, and then colored laminent on the back. The other guy in the pic is David- the iii intern (doesn't he just look like a graphic designer! he is so goofy cute.).

Maybe before I leave iii for good I will take some pics of my office and post them.

Nova Scotia, CANADA

Congrats Nathan!

Nathan was called to the Halfax, Nova Scotia, Canada Mission!
He is scheduled to leave in early September.

We are so proud of you Nate! I just know you are going to love it there, and you are going to love your mission.

We Have Puppies!

The mama dog finally had her pups! There are 4 puppies, 2 girls, 2 boys. So I think we will have our choice of these two girls. They really don't look like much now, but in a few weeks they will be all fluffy and cute and we'll be able to decide better.

Girl 1 is black/white, and I think that girl 2 is grey or blue/white. This breeder is really cool because she will keep us updated with photos and utube videos as they grow. So even though we can't go visit for a month or two, we can still see them grow!

Oh yea, bla bla, we are officially moving at the end of June to Georgia. If you didn't know- Brian got a great job with Lockheed Martin in Marietta, GA. And our cute little girly pups live in Savannah, GA, so it will only be a few hours drive to pick one up!

Replaced

I began my job with iiiDESiGN expecting to stay for eight or nine months, then have a baby and not work any more, or maybe work part-time. So when I started my job with iii I just assumed that it wouldn't be worth the time and effort to really invest any of myself in the company because I wasn't going to stay long anyway. I didn't want to make great friends, I didn't want the community to associate my name with iii (again because I would just be leaving) and I didn't want to be an integral part of the company. Which, I think is the opposite for most people- they want to start a good foundation for a career, and I wanted none of that because I didn't want a career.
It is nearly two years later, I am baby-less, and have a career as the head graphic designer at iiiDESiGN. (Don't be too impressed, the company consists of the creative director, the art director, the head designer, the project manager, and an intern.) Clearly, none of my plans worked out very well, but I think that this job has been the best thing that could have happened in my life.
I have three weeks left, and spent half of last week training my replacement. Which is weird. I am being replaced. And, I'm really really sad about it.

PUPPIES PUPPIES!!!

OH MY GOSH I CANNOT WAIT TILL MY PUPPIES ARE BORN!

This is the June litter from Holther Borders in GA, they are 4 weeks old. If Brian and I could have moved super early we could have gotten a pup from this litter, but luckily, they have another litter that will be ready in July.

This breeder is so cool because she posts photos and videos as the pups grow up, so even if you are far away you can see your puppies grow! Our litter should be born sometime at the end of next week!!

Jorjah

Well this marks a very sad time in the Saponas family- Jorjah, brian's dog, has passed away of liver cancer. She passed a few nights ago, I'm not sure the exact date, but Lou and Tim were able to fly back and at least say goodbye. (They were in Colorado helping out the Johnsons as Jean was in a very serious car accident.)

If you have ever met the Saponases I'm sure you that you were also introduced to their dog. She was female black lab, and was more a member of the family than a dog. She could do practically anything you asked of her- but my fave was the "hide-your-eyes" game where she would put her head under your knee so you could hide a tennis ball. She was so smart, I want to raise a puppy that is as smart and loving as Jorjah.

As much as I miss her, I really really feel sad for Lou and Tim. They are already going through some hardships, and losing their dog on top of it all just seems cruel. But I know that God does have a plan for us, even if we don't like it at the moment. And I know that all the Saponases love and support each other and that they are not alone even if their last child has gone.
Well, until they get a new puppy they are welcome to live vicariously through Brian and I when we get our new dog in July. (The litter should be born on May 15 so lets hope there is a girl!)
